CDL Training & Regulatory Compliance Update

Speaker: Charlie Culton, Michigan Center for Truck Safety
Though many commercial drivers have had many years of experience in operating vehicles, there is still a very high failure rate when it comes to taking the exam and receiving your CDL license. Operating a commercial motor vehicle requires
skill and knowledge. This hands-on presentation will walk you through the necessary skills you will need to know to pass both the written test and vehicle inspection exam. Also, you will be apprised of driver/vehicle compliance issues
that are most relevant to the green industry. Information will be provided on the regulatory requirements and benefits of a thorough pre-trip vehicle inspection by the driver, in addition to a demonstration of a walk-through daily vehicle inspection. Other topics covered are: identification of defective components that do not meet Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, regulatory requirements and proper completion of a DVIR (daily vehicle inspection report), proper equipment documentation, and more. This session is a great opportunity to get your commercial vehicle/driver compliance questions answered!

2:15 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
DOT Vehicle Compliance

Officer Darryl Jones, Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Division
Attend this update session to ensure that your employees and commercial vehicles are in compliance with the motor carrier laws and regulations covering such topics as equipment, CDL licenses, load securement, and drug & alcohol use.  Understand what your drivers need to be aware of to avoid tickets on the road.
